Donald (Don) E. Sloan, 65, of Temperance, MI, died Friday, September 14, 2018, in The Toledo Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Born April 7, 1953, in Toledo, OH, he was the son of Russell and Donna (Litesy) Sloan. A 1971 graduate of Bedford High School, he then received his Associates Degree from MCCC. Don married Linda Rozanski at St. Anthony Catholic Church on August 11, 1973. He worked at AWV Holland and Bradner, OH offices for 41 years as a Quality Assurance Manager, recently retiring on April 27, 2018. Don was a member of the Father John A. Kenna, Knights of Columbus at St. Anthony Church. He coached Bedford 3-B, Travel, and high school teams for many years. He also played in the Roy Hobbs Baseball League. Don was an avid Michigan Wolverine and Bedford Mule fan. He enjoyed watching them and going to the games. Don partnered with Denny Hubbard, a long time friend for 23 years, announcing Bedford High School varsity football games. Don especially enjoyed watching classic western movies, golfing and attending the races at MIS with his sons, grandson and family. He loved watching his grandchildren’s sporting events. They were the light of his life.
Don is survived by his loving wife, Linda; sons, Jerry (Leslie) Sloan and Jim (Kim) Sloan; sister, Kathryn (James) Hetherwick; brother, Richard (Pam) Sloan; grandchildren; Gaven, Gabrielle, Gwenyth, Owen and Eli Sloan; sister and brother-in-laws, Rose Marie Tussing, Carol (Earl) Nowak, Anthony Jr. (Susan) Rozanski, Richard (Wendy) Rozanski, Robert Rozanski, and many nieces and nephews; grandpuppies, Ellie and Missy. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Russell Sloan, mother and father-in-law, Anthony and Florence Rozanski; sister-in-law, Barbara Anne Rozanski; brother-in-law, Robert Tussing. Don will be greatly missed by his loving family and many friends he has known throughout the years. You will always be with us.
Visitation will be from 2-8 pm, Tuesday, September 18, 2018, at the Michael W. Pawlak Funeral Home, 1640 Smith Rd. (at Jackman) Temperance, MI. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am, Wednesday, September 19, 2018, at St. Anthony Catholic Church, 4605 St. Anthony Rd., Temperance, MI, where he will lie in state after 10:00 am.
